James Edward Cleary, my father
Comments: Portrait by G. Irving Brown of Greenfield, MA. [James Edward Cleary] was born in 1902 at Wapping Road, Deerfield. He was a violinist, played all over the village: the Brick Church, the Fiddlers Galley at Freary[?] House, etc. Deerfield Academy class of 1919, lived to the age of 95 1/2 at which time he was the oldest living graduate. Lived in Greenfiled and Deerfield all his life. He founded Cleary's Jewelry Store, Greenfield, MA. Was a genealogist and [?]. President of Pioneer Valley Symphony. He was interviewed by Don Friary for the oral history of Deerfield, on record at Historical Deerfield.
